| Jason -- I want to take just a moment to talk about last week's decision in Alabama, and how it underscores the urgent need to elect more Democrats up and down the ballot in November. I hope you'll take just a moment to read this update: When the Supreme Court -- enabled by justices Donald Trump nominated -- took the outrageous step of overturning Roe v. Wade, it paved the way for Republican elected officials to pursue their extreme agenda with the end goal of enacting a national abortion ban. Since Roe's overturn, Republicans have put in place abortion bans in 21 states, proposed three national abortion bans in Congress, and introduced more than 380 state bills attacking access to reproductive health care last year alone. But it doesn't stop there. Birth control access is under attack. And last week's decision in Alabama makes it clear that IVF is, too. The consequences in Alabama are disastrous: Families seeking fertility care, many of whom have invested their life savings in hopes of growing their families, don't know what to do or where to turn. Doctors are afraid of prosecution. Fertility clinics are halting operations. And families in other states are worried they might be targeted next. In the days since the Alabama decision came down, we've seen concern and outrage across the country. Congressional Republicans are taking note of this, and now, they're shamelessly attempting to erase their own records on IVF. The problem is, they can't. That's because just last year, more than 120 Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act, an extreme and dangerous bill that would eliminate reproductive freedom for people in every state. It would go even further than most bans in effect -- making the ruling in Alabama the law of the land. In the last few days, we've seen Republican officials attempt to talk their way out of their support for these extreme policies. But it's too late. No attempt at a rebrand can change the fact that they've spent the last several decades trying to eliminate the constitutional right to choose and undermine reproductive freedom everywhere. Their agenda is clear, and in November, we have to show up at the polls and reject it again. Here at the DNC, we're focused on reaching voters, ensuring they know what's on the ballot this fall, and that they are ready to show up for reproductive freedoms -- by not only reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris, but by winning back the House, defending and expanding Democrats' Senate majority, and electing Democrats at all levels of government who are committed to defending Americans' fundamental freedoms.
