First and foremost, we hope you and those you care about have a fabulous Fourth of July. Today is the day we take a moment to reflect on "freedom" and what it truly means to be free.

Republicans like to say they are the party of "freedom." They've tried to co-opt the term for generations. Ron DeSantis (remember him?) even released an absolutely tortuous rock ballad about "freedom" in Florida (seriously, watch it here 😬).

But what does it truly mean to be free?

Republicans say they are the party of freedom, but that's not the case.

They ban books, restrict speech, make it harder to vote, and block gun safety measures. Republicans want to take away health care and health care choices from Americans.

They block paid family and medical leave, taking away the freedom to spend time with loved ones early in life, or when they are sick and need us most.

Democrats are the party that wants to expand freedom -- the freedom to pursue a life with liberty and the pursuit of happiness… for ALL.
