Please do not fall for the illusion or the lie that any action is too small. There is no action too small. In fact, when millions of us do tiny things, we can disrupt these systems. I'm not saying that getting in the game is going 100% to change the outcome, but it may, because we are in an unprecedented time. 1 in 8 Americans are losing their federal food assistance.
Five days ago, the USDA announced that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will not be funded on November 1st due to the federal shutdown. Yesterday, two federal judges ordered the Trump administration to fund the program, but both acknowledged there is no timeline as to when the funding might be restored. 1 in 8 Americans — 42 million senior citizens, disabled people, low-income families with kids, and more — lost their food assistance today, just weeks before Thanksgiving. 
So we're launching a fundraiser for 3 foodbanks that will support an additional 3 million New Yorkers trying to feed themselves and their families until a resolution is found — and their essential SNAP benefits return.
