On the first Monday of every September, we honor the power of workers. People like my grandparents, who rose before the sun -- doing whatever they could to put food on the table and provide for our family.
This Labor Day, I'm thankful to unions for fighting for the rights, benefits, and safe work conditions that improve the lives of working families. We must continue to deliver for our workers across America and strengthen unions.
But they cannot fight this fight alone: As Democrats, it's our job to make sure that no matter what you do for a living, you have a chance at a good life. Whether that means fighting for good child care and health care, making higher education more affordable, or simply working to ensure folks have a roof over their heads and dinner on the table -- that's what our party's about.
President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats in Congress know that America's workers are the backbone of our country. From the American Rescue Plan that got direct relief into people's pockets; to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that created good-paying, union jobs; to the Inflation Reduction Act that will lower prescription drug, health insurance, and energy costs, and fight inflation; workers and families are a central part of the Biden-Harris agenda.
So, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of this fight for workers everywhere -- not just this Labor Day, but every day. It means the world.
In solidarity,
Jaime
