Hi Jason, my name is Reyna Walters-Morgan, and I'm the DNC's new vice chair of civic engagement and voter participation.
I ran for this position because I believe we can — and must — fight back against Trump and his allies' voter suppression agenda, while at the same time transforming the way our Party engages with voters.
To me, that comes down to doing three things:
-
Innovating: In 2022, less than 2 percent of voters aged 18-24 called Democratic hotlines for information or assistance with voting — and they're not the only group we're failing with traditional methods. By leveraging social media and other new technologies, we can meet these and other voters where they are.
-
Building infrastructure: We need to build a strong coalition of voter protection staff all over the country — and we need to work with state parties to maintain our voter protection resources and staff year after year.
-
Engaging in communities and working with others: Protecting the right to vote means being responsive to voters' needs and making sure they are receiving the resources they need to exercise their rights. At the same time, we should work alongside our partners — civil rights, advocacy, labor, and other political organizations — to the extent that we can to help forge new connections and expand Democratic power.
The work ahead of us could not be more important, which is why I'm asking for your support today. If investing in voter protection and education matters to you, I hope you'll consider making a $3 contribution to help fund critical work like this:
If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly.
I know many of us are still reeling from November's election results. But here is the truth: Democrats have a lot of work to do and we don't have a lot of time to do it.
That's why your support makes such a difference, especially right now.
Thank you for everything,
Reyna
