Hi Jason, it's Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin. In just a minute, I'm going to ask if you can split a contribution between my reelection campaign and the DNC. But first, I want to take a minute to tell you a little more about myself, why I ran for the U.S. Senate, and why our campaign in Wisconsin is so important. When I was a child, I was diagnosed with a serious illness and spent three months in the hospital. When I recovered, my grandparents, who raised me, tried to find an insurance policy that would cover me for the future. But because of my pre-existing condition, they couldn't find a policy to cover me -- not from any provider, not at any cost. My grandparents spent the rest of my childhood worrying about being able to pay out of pocket for my medical bills. No one should ever have to go through that. Like 135 million Americans, I know what it's like to have the label "pre existing condition" attached to my care -- and before the Affordable Care Act was passed, many of us could be denied coverage. My story informs my work every day at work in the Senate, but Republicans are still attacking our health care and threatening to roll back the progress we've made. So I have to ask: Will you split a contribution between my reelection campaign and the DNC to help defend our Senate majority and protect the progress we've made expanding access to affordable health care? The truth is that the GOP has spent years playing politics with people's lives. And if Mitch McConnell and his Republican mega-donors flip my seat in Wisconsin and take hold of the Senate majority next year, countless Americans could find themselves in a place where insurance companies, once again, write all the rules. To help us defend our Senate majority and protect the Affordable Care Act, can you split $10 between my campaign and the DNC? Thank you for standing with me, Tammy Tammy Baldwin U.S. Senator, Wisconsin |
