Hi, Jason. Each year during National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we pause to remember those we have lost to gun violence and all those impacted by it, and rededicate ourselves to ending this epidemic. For years, Democratic leaders and advocates have worked to address the rise of gun violence, even in the face of opposition from Republicans at all levels of government. President Biden and Vice President Harris have taken urgent action to address gun violence in our country. In 2022, they signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun legislation in 30 years, which implemented red flag laws, narrowed the "boyfriend loophole," began requiring young people under 21 to undergo enhanced background checks, made gun trafficking and straw purchasing federal crimes, and provided funding to expand access to mental health services. The Biden-Harris administration created the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention whose mission is to fight to prevent more tragedies. Our president's goal is to make our schools, churches, grocery stores, and communities safer. We hope you'll get involved, too. Join an upcoming training session that will prepare you to share facts with your online community using our organizing tool, Reach. Become an informed and trusted messenger for your community! Your continued advocacy and support for Democrats helps make greater strides for gun safety. Brencia Brencia Berry Political Director |
