| Jason -- We've sent a few emails about the huge sums of money the Republican National Committee and the Trump campaign raised after Trump's guilty verdict, but we thought it important to explain why this is so dangerous. First, it goes without saying that Trump's fundraising surge allows him to attack Joe Biden in ads he had not previously budgeted for. That's a problem. But practically, when you look at some of the big "swing" states in this election, they are also states with big Senate races up for grabs: like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania... states Democrats need to win to hold onto our Senate majority. So the better Trump does there, the better Republicans will do in those Senate campaigns and any competitive House races in those states. The same is true for Democrats. If we can raise the resources we need to win, we can defeat Trump, help hold the Senate, and flip the House. The response to Trump's guilty verdict gave him a boost.
