Jason -- since a bipartisan bill passed in 2019 allowing no-excuse mail voting in Pennsylvania, voter turnout in the Commonwealth has set modern records. Since it went into effect, PA has allowed eligible voters to request a mail-in ballot with no excuse necessary.
In response to President Biden's victory in 2020, a group of Republican state legislators -- many of whom originally voted to pass the law -- sued to invalidate it, claiming it violated the state constitution. But thanks to the hard work of this grassroots team, the DNC and Pennsylvania Democratic Party sprang into action.
And, I'm happy to report back that this week we prevailed, Jason.
Tuesday's decision by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court secures access to a mail ballot for all Pennsylvania voters. It was made possible by folks like you who not only helped elect Democrats to the PA Supreme Court in past elections, but also helped fund the critical voter protection efforts that helped deliver a win this week. And so, I have to ask today, if you'll keep investing in that important work:
Can you chip in $7 or more to the DNC today to help power our crucial voter protection and mobilization efforts? These efforts helped Democrats win in PA this week, and every penny of your donation goes towards funding that work and more.
The number of voters affected by Tuesday's decision is staggering. More than 2.6 million Pennsylvanians voted by mail in 2020, and we expect a lot of voters to do so this year.
The fact is, when voters turn out in Pennsylvania, Democratic candidates win. That was true in 2018 and 2020, and we will do everything we can to make sure it is true in 2022 and 2024, as well. Your contributions play a significant part in making sure that is possible.
If it makes sense to you and your budget, pitch in $7 or a few bucks to help keep our momentum heading into November.
LFG,
Sam
