Now, before we ask you to chip in $15 to elect Joe Biden and ensure we have a Democratic president nominating the next justices, here are the facts about what this nomination tomorrow will mean: - Trump’s nominee could tilt the scales on the Court. This is especially critical as he and the Republicans plot to eliminate the Affordable Care Act, including its protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Trump’s administration is trying at this very moment to get rid of the entire Affordable Care Act.
- Health care is on the line for more than 100 million Americans with pre-existing conditions who could lose coverage. And it’s on the line in the midst of a deadly pandemic.
The voters will pick a President, and that President should select the next Supreme Court justice.
In 2016, when there were nearly nine months before the election, Mitch McConnell and his Republican majority in the Senate took this position, holding the seat through the election, but have turned their back on this idea now just two months out. They intend to hold a vote.
The fight to keep this decision where it belongs, with the people, will be the fight of our lives. But it will also mean nothing if we can’t elect Joe Biden on November 3.
