Jason, For nearly 50 years, Americans relied on the rights that Roe v. Wade protected -- the fundamental constitutional right of all people to make decisions about their own bodies. Today, however, we speak of the Roe decision in the past tense -- because one year ago today, the United States Supreme Court took away that fundamental right from the people of America. The great aspiration of our nation has been to expand freedom, but the expansion of freedom is not inevitable, Jason. It is not something that just happens -- not unless we defend our most fundamental principles. The strength of our nation has always been that we move forward. We must now come together to show what kind of country we want to live in and reject the notion that our rights are up for debate. So I'm asking: Can I count on you to split a $10 donation between our reelection campaign and the Democratic National Committee today? Together, we will build on the progress we've made, elect Democrats up and down the ballot, and keep moving our country forward. Since our founding, we have been on a march forward to fully realize our promise to complete the unfinished work of securing freedom and liberty for all. But these outcomes will not just happen. It takes steadfast determination and dedication. The kind of determination and dedication possessed by some of our greatest patriots: Those Americans who fought a Civil War to end the sin of slavery, who organized at Seneca Falls to secure a woman's right to vote, who launched the Freedom Rides to advance civil rights; and who spoke out at the Stonewall Inn to defend human rights. America is a promise. A promise we must all make real in every state and every community, in every state house, in every doctor's office, and in every election. Split a $10 contribution between our reelection campaign and the DNC today to ensure we can continue the work of making the promise of America real for everyone. Thank you for your support -- today and every day. Kamala Kamala Harris Kamala Harris: Adam Schultz / Biden for President Photo. CC BY-NC-SA 2.0 |
