Dan Freeman

Jason, it’s Dan Freeman, the DNC’s Litigation Director.

There’s been a lot of noise on voting rights recently, so I’m writing to give you a brief rundown of what’s actually happening.

Five days ago, the Supreme Court decided Louisiana v. Callais, gutting Voting Rights Act requirements that protect majority-minority districts and making it much harder to bring discrimination claims against redistricting maps.

At the same time, Republicans in states like Texas, Missouri, and Florida have redrawn congressional maps to win more seats without more votes, silencing the voices of minority voters.

To add insult to injury, President Trump recently issued an executive order directing the federal government to build an eligible voter list for every state. And then the order instructs the Postal Service not to return ballots for anyone on this list.

I know this may seem bleak, but my team and the DNC are fighting back. Before I go into detail, please use this link to chip in and help power our fight, both in and out of court.

Here’s what you need to know:

The Trump administration has tried to interfere with voting rights before, and we’ve beaten them time and again. We’re fighting President Trump’s executive orders in court right now, and we’re committed to fighting on the ground to ensure that every American is able to make their voice heard at the ballot box this November.

President Trump doesn’t set rules for our democracy, and we’re fighting tooth and nail to put a stop to his agenda.

If work like this matters to you, please make a $7 contribution to the DNC today to help us continue fighting — both in the courthouse and at the ballot box.

If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly.

Thank you,

Dan
