The Republican Party’s brand is fear.
They have to constantly churn out what they want people to be afraid of — to be afraid of socialists, to be afraid of immigrants, to be afraid of women — because if you are not afraid of your neighbor, you’re going to realize who’s actually pickpocketing you.
And that is the large corporations that are engaged in profiteering and jacking up your prices for no good reason. It’s this administration that is engaged in record levels of swindling, theft, tariffs, and attacks on your housing.
But I think that people are feared out.
Everyone’s nerves are shot from constantly being taught and told what country, person, or community to be afraid of — and they just want a solution.
They want their groceries to be more affordable.
They want to figure out how we’re going to get health care.
They want our housing to get under control.
I think that we’re ready for an affirmative vision for this country, and it can't just be, “Not that.” If it's not that, then what is it?
For me, my “what” is raising the federal minimum wage to a living wage.
My “what” is guaranteed healthcare for every American and catching up with the rest of the modern world.
My “what” is making public colleges and universities tuition free.
My “what” is actually having a real path to citizenship in the United States.
That’s why this movement is so important: we’re fighting for each and every one of these issues, from universal healthcare to getting money out of our politics.
