Jason, you've probably heard me say "this ain't your grandma's DNC." I've said it a lot these past few months, but what does it really mean?
Simply put: We're doing things differently at the DNC this cycle. We're investing more money earlier than ever to not only expand our majorities, but to defend them from Republican attacks. But it's going to take you, me, and this entire grassroots team to back those big plans:
Can I count on you to make a $7 donation to the DNC today to support the state party investments, on-the-ground organizing, and voter protection efforts it will take to win seats up and down the ticket in 2021 and 2022?
The midterms may seem far away, but let me tell you: They're not. Just because we hold majorities right now doesn't mean we can rest on our laurels. We need to act as if we are not in the majority.
We need to be hungry heading into next year's midterms if we have any chance at expanding our majority. That's why we're:
- Strengthening our state parties. We know that any Republican stronghold could be the next Georgia or Arizona -- all it takes to flip a state from red to blue is time, talent, and energy. That's why we're spending a historic $23 million to empower state parties to develop and implement state-tailored strategies, train the next generation of diverse party leaders, provide the best data and tech to Democrats up and down the ballot, and more.
- Organizing early and building power in every ZIP code. I'm a firm believer that no state is a red state if we invest early enough. The DNC can't just be a political organization that shows up in the weeks before an election. We need to be a community organization that listens and addresses the needs of Americans all over the country -- so we're making our largest and earliest investment yet in the states to modernize our organizing process and empower local talent who know their communities and what they need.
- Protecting the right to vote nationwide. Republicans know that their policies are deeply unpopular -- and that the only way for them to hold on to power is to attack our most fundamental right to vote. Here at the DNC, we have a very different playbook: Proactively defend every American's right to vote by funding a record $25 million into voter education, voter protection, targeted voter registration, and technology to make voting more accessible.
Our plans are BIGGER than ever, Jason. Because we know that the investments we make now will determine how strong our party is in the months and years ahead.
I hope you'll consider making a $7 donation to the DNC to continue building innovative programs as we look to 2022, 2024, and beyond.
You're the heart and soul of our party, so believe me when I say: Anything you're able to contribute today will determine the impact of our work in the long run.
Let's get to work,
Jaime
Jaime Harrison
Chair
Democratic National Committee
P.S. Our plans for 2022 are bigger than ever -- and require a bigger investment than ever. It's not hyperbole to say that what we do now will determine how much we can compete in the midterms and beyond. Donate $7 to the DNC now to fund our unprecedented investments in state parties, voter protection, and innovative organizing efforts.
