| Today, on Native American Heritage Day, we honor Indigenous communities and their ancestors. But Jason, the contributions of America's Native communities cannot be contained to a single day -- or even a month. As we celebrate our rich heritage and contributions, we must also commit ourselves toward building a future marked by justice, promise, and equal opportunity for all. In that spirit, the Biden-Harris administration is working to build a new era of Nation-to-Nation engagement by: - Working together to defeat COVID-19, which exacerbated pre-existing health care inequities facing Tribal Nations and disproportionately affected Native American populations across the country.
- Building physical and human infrastructure in Indian Country by making game-changing infrastructure investments spanning transportation, water, sanitation, energy, environmental restoration, telecommunications, and climate resiliency.
- Supporting financial recovery for Tribal Nations, laying the foundation for robust Tribal economies, making health care more accessible, expanding early childhood education, modernizing infrastructure, and advancing climate resilience.
- Creating first-ever Tribal Advisory Committees at the Departments of Interior, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, and Veterans Affairs to create an open dialogue between Tribal leaders and the administration.
...and more. We have a lot of work ahead, Jason -- but I know we will be better off with you by our side. Thank you for being on this team, Rion & Jaime Rion Ramirez Native American Caucus Chair Democratic National Committee Jaime Harrison Chair Democratic National Committee | | | |
