Jason,
Election Day this year was a mixed bag for us. A win in New Jersey. Exciting leadership in New York, Boston, and other cities around the country. But of course, the result in Virginia wasn't what we wanted. I congratulate Governor-elect Youngkin on his victory, and Terry McAuliffe for running a campaign we could all be proud of.
Look -- losses like this are tough. I've experienced a few myself in my day. But here is what I know: The worst thing we could do right now is let this distract us from the work ahead. It's just like I told some of you last year after I had a tough loss of my own: "We've got to get up." My Dad used to say that, and it's still true.
I know the power of this team -- I saw it myself last year. When we faced headwinds, you always had our back. Well, now there's work to be done. We've got to pick up the pace and send a strong message that Democrats are going to deliver results for working families -- rebuild our roads and bridges, address the climate crisis, cut the cost of child care and pre-K across the country. The stakes are too high to stand on the sidelines now. We've got to pass these bills, sell them to the American people, and win some elections. There is no time to wait. And I need you with me.
Can you rush a $7 donation to the DNC's Democratic Fight Fund today? Every penny will be put straight to work defending and expanding our Democratic majorities in all 50 states, territories, and D.C. come 2022.
Just one year ago today it was Election Day. We were all sitting on the edge of our seats wondering where the chips would fall. We wondered if our country would choose light over the darkness. If we would choose unity over division. Ultimately, we did -- and that is in no small part because of this team.
Despite yesterday's results, I've never been more confident in the American people. But we've got to kick it into high gear. If we keep going the way things are, it's just not going to cut it in next year's midterm elections.
In the next few months, we're going to build the strongest party infrastructure this country has ever seen to protect and expand our Democratic majorities. That means getting organizers on the ground early, running online and television ads, and maintaining a non-stop voter protection program. We've got to get it done. You know that I hate to ask for money -- but these efforts will be expensive. That's why I'm coming to you for help, Jason.
We cannot afford to let last night set the tone for next year. I need you to step up for the first time this year and donate $7 to the DNC's Democratic Fight Fund. Whatever you're able to give will help Democrats pick up seats next year.
Let's get to work.
Joe

President of the United States
