DNC Chair Jaime Harrison is no stranger to the challenges so many Americans are facing. Jaime was born to a single teenage mom in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and his grandparents raised him. His grandmother picked cotton, and his grandfather paved roads. Most of his childhood was spent just trying to get by. Thanks to a good public school education, the love of his family, and the support of his community, Jaime earned a scholarship to Yale University and attended Georgetown Law. After college, he came back home to Orangeburg. Jaime taught at his old high school, worked at a nonprofit, and eventually served as an aide to South Carolina Congressman Jim Clyburn.
In 2013, Jaime was elected the first African American Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, and in 2020, he ran for Senate, building a national grassroots movement and breaking records by raising more than any Senate candidate in history.
Now, as Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Jaime is fighting to build the strongest party in history and elect Democrats nationwide who are committed to delivering for workers and families everywhere.
Jaime has committed his life to helping others -- and as Democrats, we are committed to always be there to give folks a hand up. Whether it be on issues of health care, child care, or lowering costs for working families, Democrats are fighting for families across the country just like Jaime's.
Jaime's story -- and the stories of so many others -- is only possible because of the tremendous opportunities he was afforded thanks to the values of our party and Democratic policies. Now, we're relying on the support of this team to build the strongest Democratic Party in history and continue fighting for folks in every corner of America. That's why we're asking:
Can we count on you to join Chair Jaime Harrison in this fight by chipping in $7, or whatever you can afford, to the DNC today? Anything you're able to contribute will help fund our efforts electing Democrats and building the next generation of Democratic leaders.
Together,
The Democrats
