I'm a numbers guy, Jason -- and when it comes to Republicans' coordinated assault on our right to vote, some of the numbers are downright shocking.
You see, it's not just GOP leadership pushing obviously false claims about the 2020 election. Republicans in state legislatures across the country are restricting access to the ballot box -- and it's up to us to stop them. If we get into the nitty gritty, there have been hundreds of anti-voter bills introduced in state legislatures this year alone, and 33 of those have become law across 19 states.
Here at the DNC, we're operating a 24/7 voter protection hotline, making our largest midterm voter registration investment ever, and reaching out to voters early to secure our majorities next year and safeguard our democracy. You play a huge part in this work, Jason, so I have to ask:
Can I count on you to donate $7 to the DNC's Voter Protection Fund today? Whatever you're able to give will make a big difference in our fight to defend our democracy and elect Democrats nationwide.
Republican legislators aren't just trying to suppress the vote -- they're actively trying to chip away at our democracy:
6 states have passed laws imposing unnecessary and pointless partisan penalties for election officials.
5 states launched partisan reviews of last year's election results.
3 states have disempowered election officials of their ability to regulate partisan poll monitors.
2 state legislatures have given themselves the power to remove and replace local election officials with partisan operatives.
But while the Republican Party tries to attack our elections and prevent folks from voting, Democrats are working harder than ever to protect ballot access for every eligible voter. We're fighting to pass legislation like the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and we need your help to elect more Democrats who will get the job done.
So please, rush a $7 donation to the Voter Protection Fund to help assemble the largest voter protection team in DNC history and elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2022 and beyond.
Thank you,
Patrick
