Happy Women's History Month, Jason! Today, I want to take a moment to honor the progress made possible by the sacrifice, determination, and contributions of women who have made our party and our country stronger.
We stand on the shoulders of heroines who dared to open new doors, shape our progress, and strengthen our character as a people. Generations of Native women were stewards of the land and continue to lead the fight for climate justice. Black women fought to end slavery, advocated for civil rights, and helped pass the Voting Rights Act. Latina and AAPI labor leaders championed and organized for better conditions for domestic and agricultural workers. Suffragists helped pass the 19th Amendment to the Constitution so that no American could be denied a vote on the basis of sex.
And as Democrats, we recognize that there is no time like the present to be the change we want to see. That is why the DNC will never stop working to protect progress for women everywhere and build a more equitable and just future for all.
President Biden has appointed the most diverse and gender-balanced cabinet in American history. Through the American Rescue Plan, President Biden and Vice President Harris delivered immediate relief to women and families, funded domestic violence and sexual assault services, supported child care providers, and invested in care workers -- who are disproportionately women of color.
None of this would be possible without the strength of those who power our activism and grassroots support. Folks like you, Jason.
As we reflect on the achievements of women and girls throughout the centuries, join me in recommitting to the fight for a more equal society where every person has the opportunity to achieve the American dream.
We have a lot of work before us, but with your support, I remain hopeful for the bright future we have ahead. Thank you for being on our team.
Thank you,
Gabriela
