I was humbled by the opportunity to speak to folks all across the country in my very first State of the Union address. This is a longer email, but I thought it was important to reach out directly to you to share some of my speech and ask you to chip in to the DNC to keep building a better America.
I've been saying from the very beginning that this fight is not about me. Kamala and I ran for office with a new vision for America. We wanted to make sure that everyone had a fair shot.
One of the first things we did was fight to pass the American Rescue Plan. It fueled our efforts to combat COVID and delivered immediate economic relief for tens of millions of Americans -- it helped put food on their tables, keep roofs over their heads, and cut the cost of health insurance. As my dad used to say, it gave people a little breathing room.
The second thing we did was fight to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the most sweeping investment to rebuild America in history. It'll create good jobs, modernizing roads, airports, ports, and waterways all across America.
But we still have work to do, Jason. We can take action to lower costs on things like prescription drugs, energy, and child care -- and, instead of relying on foreign supply chains, we can make it in America. I call it building a better America.
I also presented a Unity Agenda for the nation. Four big things we can do: We can beat the opioid epidemic, we can take on mental health and get all Americans the services they need, we can support our veterans to make sure we care for them and their families, and we can end cancer as we know it.
To make it all possible, we need you on board to protect and expand our Democratic majorities this year. The DNC is crucial to that effort. They're also already investing in on-the-ground organizing, voter protection programs, state parties, and more to support Democratic candidates. So, I have to ask:
Will you make a $7 donation to the DNC today to help sustain our progress for the long haul? Every penny will be put straight to work building a better America, I promise you that.
Over the last year, Kamala and I have worked around the clock to get our country back on track -- and truth be told, none of it would be possible without the support of this grassroots team. So let me say: thank you.
The State of the Union is strong -- because you, the American people, are strong. We are stronger today than we were a year ago. And we will be stronger a year from now than we are today.
Thank you for stepping up when it matters the most,
Joe
Joseph R. Biden Jr.
President of the United States
P.S. I talked a lot about the progress we've made together and what we're hoping to get done in the next year. To make it all possible, we need to keep building on our majority. The Democratic National Committee is the only party committee devoted to electing Democrats at every level, so: Will you chip in $7 now to help elect Democrats across the country so Kamala and I can keep up our work for the American people?
