Hey there, Jason -- I'm Ammar, the Rapid Response Director here at the DNC. I work on our communications team to make sure we hold Republicans accountable for their lies, obstruction, and broken promises.
I know the past few weeks have been super busy, but I just couldn't let the GOP's most recent efforts go unnoticed. I hope you'll give me a second to sum up what the GOP has been up to, explain what makes it so dangerous, and then ask you to donate $7 to the DNC to make sure none of it derails our progress.
Republicans have proven time and again that they have no interest in serving the people -- and that their singular goal is to grab back power at any cost. Here's just a taste of what we've seen from the GOP just in the first two months of the year:
- After saying last year that higher costs for families were a "gold mine," Republican Senator Rick Scott released a plan to raise taxes for more than half of Americans, including seniors.
- The GOP has been -- and continues to be -- the Party of Trump. The defeated former president called Russian President Vladimir Putin "savvy" and "genius" amid Russia's unprovoked and unjustified war in Ukraine, and GOP Senators Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Rick Scott, Tom Cotton, and GOP Governor Kristi Noem refused to condemn Trump's words.
- On the state level, Republicans are carrying out an all-out assault on LGBTQ+ kids. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott used Texas children as a political weapon and perpetuated senseless hatred towards the transgender and gender non-conforming community. And the Republican-controlled Florida House recently passed legislation dubbed the 'Don't Say Gay' bill limiting discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary schools.
And you bet we'll see even more of this from the GOP if we cede just one Senate seat and five House seats to the GOP in November, Jason.
The Democratic National Committee is the only organization tasked with protecting and expanding Democratic seats from the school board to the Senate. We're already ramping up our messaging, organizing, and voter protection programs ahead of this year's midterms, but we're counting on the backing of grassroots supporters like you to keep making critical programs possible.
Will you donate $7 to the DNC today to make sure that Republicans do not gain a single inch of power this November?
More soon,
Ammar

P.S. Wonder what the GOP has been up to over the past few weeks? Promoting a plan to raise taxes for seniors, lauding Vladimir Putin, and launching attacks against LGBTQ+ kids -- just to name a few. We must make sure the GOP does not stand in the way of our progress. Will you chip in $7 to the DNC to protect our majorities this year?
