For far too long, our political system has been dominated by corporate power and special interests. The result is that what is seen as “possible” in Washington is more about what works for the wealthy and powerful, and not what’s best for the working class who built this country.
We have the power to change this — but it is going to take electing fighters to Congress who are actually a part of the communities they represent and who run campaigns that are not funded by corporate PAC donations.
That’s why I am proud to announce I’m endorsing Rev. Frederick D. Haynes III to represent TX-30.
Rev. Frederick D. Haynes III has been a pastor in his community for 40 years. He is running on a platform of Medicare for All and economic justice. He refuses corporate PAC money — so we know that he won’t be beholden to special interests.
Can we all come together to throw Frederick Haynes our support?
Rev. Haynes knows that our government can and must serve working people — whether in New York, Texas, or elsewhere — to bring about a better future for all.
We both believe it is a moral failure that anyone in the richest country on earth fears the financial cost of getting sick or needing an operation and we will fight together for Medicare for All.
And we both believe that ICE must be abolished and that our immigration system must be rooted in principles of humanity.
I know Rev. Haynes will bring his spirit of service to his community to the halls of Congress. But first we need to help his campaign reach voters all throughout Texas’ 30th district.

Together, we will take back the House of Representatives this November from Republican control. This is not the only seat we need to win, but electing Rev. Haynes will help turn the tide and send another progressive fighter to Washington.
